For 2017 they offer a lower gearing option if you want to install bigger mud tires. They also have fender extensions and many other new options for riding in the soggy bottoms. Get a special preview here> http://utvactionmag.com/…/yamaha-unveils-its-mud-yxz1000r-se

yea and with Yamaha hooking up with Tubeworks it's a win for everyone involved:
Tubeworks has six transmission kits, from a 35-percent 1st Gear reduction ($350) and 15-percent Drop Set ($550) that reduces final drive for over sized tires to its Full Trail(70/30/30/30/15% reduction) or Desert (45/15/15/15/1%) Edition WR kits for $2000. Tubeworks’ most popular YXZ kit is its $900 70/30 and 45/15 Kit. Tubeworks splits the cases and installs their gears to provide a 70-percent reduction in first and 30-percent reduction in second through fifth plus reverse. Check it out at www.tubeworks.com or call (951) 784-7900.

I still don't think it will be good for big tires. I saw some video of a guy with the 70% tubeworks and had rekluse clutching had hard time turning 30" tires in creek bottom and on hills. Here is the link. There are a few videos out there
