I'm not sure what the point is he's making really. I just put this up for discussion. Whacking them with a hammer doesn't prove they will last longer in the machine.

They look just like the outer rear spindle bushings on my Rhino. My OEM appear to be made of a sintered bronze type material. Which is softer than the steel shaft and as such a wearable part that could be replaced once or twice before the shaft, if properly greased. The material is also somewhat self-lubricating as when it wears down it opens little pockets that release oil or grease, or at least hold the grease there longer that's added. If his are steel, which side wears first will be a discovery that I guess will probably be equal. And if you have ever had two steel parts rubbing together with out proper grease then you can remember the door pins on an old truck after the bushing is worn-out. That noise in the suspension could not be tolerated long by most folks lol. Worse than brake noise imo. Most aftermarket folks appear to be making the bushings out of a polymer of some variety, like delrin. I would guess it is cheaper to mold and machine than steel. Maybe both steel parts would last longer if properly maintained?
