i would think about putting some kind of 1/4" x 1/4" wire mesh over that blower intake, kind of like what they use for the bottom of rabbit cages to keep it from getting a leaf sucked up in there or a mouse from thinking its a good place to build a nest or store some nuts. With it not being turned on the biggest part of the year there is plenty of time for a mouse to get up in there.
Even though my Harley is covered up and sitting in the garage for the winter there have been several times starting it up for the 1st time in the spring that the pipes have shot out bird seed like a 12ga shot gun lol little bastards get into everything.
