Imagine a toy car with a pull string. It sitting on a conveyor that will move at the same speed that the wheels are turning (trying to hold the car in place by spinning the tires). Pull on the string to drag the car "upstream". The car will sit still and you will break the string before you can move the car????Quote:

The whole point is that the airplane is self propelled and does not need the wheels to do anything to go forward. Think of the toy car powered with a bottle rocket instead of pulled by a string.Quote:
