    Diff oil changes

I want to change the oil in the front and rear diff of my RZR. I know there is two different kinds of oil. I just want to know where the drain plugs are at and where the fills are at. Also how much do you put in them? 2013 RZR 900

Thanks in advance. Just want to make sure I do it right.

Front and rear diff/transaxle will have an 8mm recessed allen head. Engine oil will have a 6mm. Transaxle drain is further back than engine drain. Lift the rear of the rzr to add more oil to transaxles than the 44oz called for by the manual.

Diffs are often "overlooked" by most all of us , I'll bet almost everyone only checks / changes theirs once a year . I had a seal leaking from the outside in , it was letting water in ; but , no oil was coming out . I thought I could "save" it by flushing the diff out real good with diesel , and putting new oil in ....nope !! I ended up having to replace all the bearings . These need checked more than once a year , IMO .

If you can find one of those pumps that people use for lower units on a boat it makes the job ten times easier. No mess no over filling and wasting 13$ quart oil.

I picked one up at advance for around $10 . I must say it's WAY better than using a piece of fuel line on the bottle , and spilling (wasting) the oil everywhere ! Even still , you have to go slow , or you'll spill it . After having just had mine all apart because of a seal , I don't know that I'm a fan of jacking the rear up so it'll hold "more" tho . I don't know if extra oil puts any more pressure against the seal or not...I just don't want to risk crapping a diff (price a used one , let alone a new one ) because of something I done .

Polaris' rear trans has some Chinese bearings near the top that fail from lack of lubrication, so you need to overfill to be sure they get oiled good. If you put too much, it'll just vent, I suppose. Mine never has and the diff doesn't get hot. The easiest way to fill the front diff is through the vent tube.
