AR-15 platform all the way. Much more accurate and just as reliable these days. I have a Wilson Combat AR-15 in 6.8 that is .5" MOA or better at 100 yards. The AK is not a bad weapon but high end AR's are way more accurate and can reach out and touch a lot further. I have a few Noveske lowers I'm about to build, thinking of building a 6.5 Grendel with one and a Socom .458 with the other.
Gone but Never Forgotten - 2006 Yamaha Rhino 660/780

    Bored/stroked - ported head - +1 valves - hi-comp piston - cam - HSR 45 carb - Dyna-tek - dual exhaust - bronco dry clutch - fastest Rhino around these parts.

Exactly, I grew up with an old lever action 45-70 and that thing was so fun to shoot. Back then the rounds were huge flat head bullets and hearing that much lead splat into stuff was amazing lol. It's a round big enough to easily take down any game in North America. When I heard about the modern day 45-70 ".458 Socom" on the AR-15 platform I got excited. It sounds like too much fun. Of course your range is probably 100 yards max but the thought of shooting 300-600 grain bullets out of an AR is just awesome. The 6.5 Grendel is just for laser beam accuracy. I have thought about buying an AR-10 Creedmoor that uses the same 6.5 bullet as the Grendel. That way I can just buy tons of 6.5 bullets and load for either platform. I have a Dillon XL 650 so reloading is easy.

I don't know, I have a .223 and 6.8 already and I have a nice JR Carbine in .45 ACP so no need for a .300 blk out since the .45 ACP is identical to it when talking sub sonic BAC and the .45 ACP has way better bullets and they all expand at subsonic speed unlike .300 bullets. So the only things that seem worth building with these lowers is the Grendel, Socom any other ideas?

I've built a few 5.56s and a couple 6.8s. I'm a fan of the AR platform. Lots of ways to customize and make it fit your needs. My next build will probably be a Grendel. Although with PSA introducing their PSAK-47 at shot show, it's definitely got me thinking more. Made in USA AK. Will be tempting...
