Ranger 900 Fuse Block Wiring Project

The mods are starting to come along, and any of you who know me already know that I like electrical accessories. I added the Blue Seas fuse block with both negative and positive busses. I originally installed one of these on my Teryx4 800 and was impressed by the fuse block. It works well in wet environments.

    I also installed a 2" Highlifter lift.

Check out a few of my pics:

    Teaser:
I will be running (for now) a set of skinny-wide original Bighorns in the 27" flavor. They will be going on the stock Polaris wheels. This is the forst set of original Bighorns I have owned since my Rhino 700. I love Bighorns. The Bighorn 2.0 I ran on my Teryx4 800 were not very impressive. The original 'horns are my favorite!

Thanks. I'm not an electrical genius by any means. But I can take my time. At the forefront of my mind when I do electrical mods is, "How will this work after a couple of years of being soaked and covered in mud?" While expensive, I am a believer in the Anchor Marine 14AWG tinned wiring, adhesive lined heat shrink connectors, and sealed Carling Contura switches.

I had the 12 position fuse block in my Teryx4, but I realized that I didn't need all those slots. The smaller 6 slot fuse block I installed in my Ranger 900 is much more practical and easy to mount.

Looks great. You always do stellar installs. And with the 2 inch lift it looks really good. How are you liking it so far?

I've confessed in other threads that I am rightly liking this Polaris more than a Yamaha fanboy should! The Ranger feels right to me. It's easy to get into and out of; the utility upright bench seating works well for my purposes.

The Polaris ProStar engines are fun and hav great power. Polaris also got the suspension right on the Ranger 900. With 10" of travel, it is soft but also fairly resistant to bottoming. For my uses of cruising the mud holes, down in the creeks and sugar sand sandbars, and the rare chore of hauling random cattle ranch supplies, the suspension is real good.

The Ranger 900 has a healthy 60MPH ECU limited top speed and great acceleration with its 68hp engine, but it is not fast through the trails like a Rhino or Teryx. Those machines can carve a tight corner in the woods much better than the Ranger.

I am still getting used to the Polaris AWD system. It works well. You can leave it in AWD from the moment you hit the dirt and it'll pull all 4 tires when necessary. The thing is, for me, my brain can't get used to that. I prefer the selectable locking front differential, but the Polaris AWD does work well if you have a set it and forget mentality when it come to your front differential philosophy.

Yes. I don't know if that is a 100% kosher move, but it has worked for me on other installs. Correct me if I am wrong, please, but the only fault I could see with such is if you were trying to run multiple high amp draw accessories from the fuse block and were also winching simultaneously. Then, perhaps it would be possible to overload the 6 gauge wiring provided with the winch.
