maybe the crawl gears were too big to fit in the redesigned tranny lol
While they usually give great acceleration, there is nothing to say that it couldn't be set up for great rock crawling. Especially when you're in that spot where 1st is to low and second is to high.

Since the water is murky with a solid definition of close gear ratio tranny, it basically boils down to adding more gears in-between your lowest and highest gear ratio without changing the top or bottom, let's say a 5 speed and a 6 speed close gear ratio tranny. with the same gear ratios in 1st for both, and then 5th in the normal and 6th in the close ratio would be the same. Just the ratio increase per shift will be smaller.

Just watched a you tube video of a guy going in water about up to the headlights and half way through it stopped and the motor would just rev. Any thoughts? Does the clutch definitely need to be snorkeled if you have water holes in the trails around you? Just wanted some input I know nothing about yamaha's new setup they are running.

clutch does not need to be snorkeled...they burnt that clutch way before that hole

Ok thanks. I thought it was weird because I didn't think that a clutch had a vent in it. Have you seen the vid yet James?

Ok makes sense. And slipping is revving motor while engaging and Un-engaging the clutch correct?
