the cams and timing are set up for low end torque
'cause that's where most off roading engines run much of the time

it's also interesting that the torque peaks at 6400
bet you could get more bottom end torque with a different cam and exhaust.
looks more like a "revver"

if you compare the yxz 1000 cc to the FZ-09 850 cc, you can see a noticeable difference.
there are substantial drivetrain losses in the yxz which required more displacement (+7mm stroke):
