Fall Ride 2way radios

As most of you know when riding in WV with James & Nikki a 2way radio can be very handy communicating in a big group. There ideal for keeping a group together (ask Rob & Tony) communicating a break down, trail hazards and much more.

For those of you that don't already have a 2way radio James & Nikki purchased 10 handhelds that they will be selling at the ride. They'll be $40ea and that includes radio, lithum ion battery, charging dock and belt clip. The radios are BaoFeng UV5RTP.

They will be programed with GMRS/FRS channels that are used during the ride. These are great little radios that work very well (8watt output). Battery life on these radios is fantastic too !!

They are really nice. We were using ours at the farm on Herndon mountain, talking to Keeter at the stair steps last weekend.

Mine aren't the fancy ones with a screen on them but I'll bring a couple with me and maybe Aaron will program them. Also have a couple of the handheld mics I'll bring.

I can't get these to reach 1/4 mile even after the extended antenna, I never programmed them so I don't know if that's why.
