    Good points. The relay coil gets grounded by the ignition keyswitch when it is in the start position. The other side of the coil gets voltage applied when the transmission is in neutral and/or when the brake lights are lit up with the key switch in the run (and start) positions.

    Already did the tapping and ground checking.
    He jumped across and it cranked just a couple of times. My guess is bad battery.
    I will keep you posted and thanks for the input. Always good to know that help is just a few key strokes away.
