5th Annual JBS Hot Rod & WV SXS Riders Forum Spring Ride April 28th -30th

We want to try something a little different for the Spring Ride this year so we will be staying at & leaving from Skyline Lodge in Ghent WV. It's about 20 minutes south of our house & less than 5 minutes off of interstate 77. For y'all who have been to the Hart's farm with us before, when we are there we are about 30 minutes from Skyline ... so we will still be around the Barker's Creek / Pinnacle Creek area as well as some new stuff & maybe venture over Burning Rock way too.

Skyline has 48 rooms that include a mini fridge, microwave & WiFi. Most have 2 double beds in them & will be $60 a night there are also some rooms that have 1 queen bed, they are $70 & some that have 1 king bed, they are $80. We've seen several different rooms & they are always very nice & clean. On the property they also have a bunk house, it has 8 rooms with 8 bunks in each room they are $25 per bunk/night & each room has it's own shower & toilet but nothing else ... no WiFi. The property is 42 acres so there will be plenty of parking/camping but they do not have hook-ups for campers. The main lodge is really nice, it has a big common area with a restaurant & bar as well as a huge back deck. The people that run the place are super nice, they are locals that like to ride & already have lots of groups that leave from there. Their website is under construction but you can call to make reservations, the # is 304-787-6201 ... you can also check out their facebook page ... https://www.facebook.com/skylinewv/

We've been going back & forth trying to figure out what to do. As most of y'all know the ride gets bigger every year & it seems to have become impossible to get everyone accommodations at Ashland. Also the prices keep increasing & it will cut off all of the winding back roads & save the people driving a long way a little bit of time. Skyline should be much more convenient & lots closer to civilization, they are also super excited & appreciative that we want to have our ride there.

Other than that, everything else is pretty much the same as the last spring ride. We are getting sooo excited to see everyone ... it will be here before we know it =)

Let me know what questions y'all have or if there is anything I can do.

We've had a lot of great giveaways donated already, James created a separate post at ... http://hotrodforums.net/forums/showt...sponsor-prizes

Hot Rod /WV SXS Riders Forum Ride Rules

It is a very difficult to keep a large group of SXS's moving on the rides and it is only possible with proper preparation of your machine and the cooperation of all riders. We put a lot of work into organizing and making sure the rides are fun and safe for everyone. Please do your part. Be prepared and follow the few simple rules we have.

We need everyone to keep up with the person in front of you and we need each person to be 100% sure the person riding behind them knows which way to go at any & every fork or intersection in the trail/road. It's hard to be in a new place, stopped at a intersection & watching the guy in front of you fade off into the distance while you wait on the guy behind you to catch up. You have to trust that the system will work if everyone follows the guidelines. If you come to an intersection that no one is waiting & you do not know which way to go STAY PUT, someone WILL be back to get you. James as well as lots of the other guys that know the area & ride with us will be in constant radio contact & we will know when there is a break in the convoy.

Make sure you have preformed basic maintenance & that you have taken a look at your machine to make sure there are no obvious issues. If a machine has a mechanical problem and it can't be fixed in a quick manner the ride will continue and we will have people help out the broken SXS and get it to a place where it can be recovered by a truck & trailer. We need some volunteers each day to stay with broken machines and help them get their SXS back to camp or if you can get it going in a timely manner you can catch up at the next break.

Friday we will stop for a lunch break at the Wagon Wheel, people who want BBQ can eat at Bad Brother's & people who want Jerry's can go a mile & a half up the road to his place, we will gather everyone up before we head back out on the trail. Saturday we will stop for lunch on the trail so bring anything you will need to eat and drink unless we post otherwise.

It really helps if everyone has a rear view mirror, a two way radio and everyone needs to do their best to let everyone know of any machine problem asap. If everyone does this the ride will go smoothly and we won't be wasting time having to send someone back to find people.

Thank you Bobby D for having wrote 95% of these rules years ago. You definitely know what it takes to keep these big rides moving.
