Spring ride rules
Hot Rod /WV SXS Riders forum ride rules.
It is a very difficult to keep a large group of SXS's moving on the rides and it is only possible with proper preparation of your machine and the cooperation of all riders. If your needing major repairs to your SxS the morning of the ride, you are not ready for the day that lay ahead. James and Nikki put a lot of work into organizing and making sure the rides are fun and safe for everyone. Please do your part. Be prepared and follow the few simple rules we have.
If a machine has a mechanical problem and it can't be fixed in a quick manner the ride will continue and we will have two people help out the broken SXS and get it to a place where it can be recovered by a truck & trailer.
We will stop for a 30 minute lunch break on the trail so bring anything you will need to eat and drink unless we make prior plans to stop for lunch somewhere. I would suggest save your drinking for back at camp in the evening. We won't be stopping enough for people to be pissing every 10 minutes...lol. If you must drink do it in moderation so you won't be ruining someone else's day or experience. Keep in mind we have people that drive a long ways to ride and ride is what we will do.
We need everyone to keep up with the person in front of you and we need each
person to be 100% sure the person riding behind them knows which way to go at any & every fork or intersection in the trail.
I would like to see us get in a minimum of 50 miles each day and to do that it takes everyone's cooperation. I hope no one has a problem with this plan but I think it's fair and it will ensure that everyone gets in some good riding.
Anyone's machine can have a problem regardless of make so what happens happens but we can't stop the entire ride. The only thing we can wait on is to plug a tire as quickly as possible and keep the group rolling to get a good days ride in.
We need some volunteers each day like we had at past rides to stay with broken machines and help them get their SXS back to camp or if you can get it going in a timely manner you can catch up at the next break. (Preferably people that have some knowledge of the area)
Everyone needs a rear view mirror, two way radio and everyone needs to do their best to let the leaders know of any machine problem asap. If everyone does this the ride will go smoothly and we won't be wasting time having to send someone back to find people. Please everyone do your part and think about the person behind you at all times.
This should not happen but if you come up to a fork in the trail and the person in
front of you has not waited on you then just stop and wait. Don't guess and take the group down the wrong trail. Someone will come back.
Thank you Bobby D for having wrote 95% of these rules years ago. You definitely know what it takes to keep these big rides moving.

I don't know how many people have told me they had no idea they were supposed to wait for the guy behind them. The outlaw trails are amazing but they can be rutal. You gotta be prepared

Agree with the above posts, the main thing is waiting at intersections for the person behind yah. Do we have a pre planned route and stop areas? was wanting to add it to back country.

I talked to Aaron and Geoff about making a trip down to James to do some trail maintenance and map the route so Bob T can add it on BCN
