6 Wildcat XX Components That Are Better Than RZR or X3

    1. Full Doors: Can-Am and Polaris have yet to put full doors on their $20,000+ high performance UTVs. Up until now Yamaha has been the only manufacturer to supply them not counting the Polaris General. Hopefully Arctic Cat changed the old seat belt buckle style door latch for something like Yamaha, Kawasaki or Polaris uses on the RZR.

    2. Trailing Arms: RG Pro suspension offers 18” of rear wheel travel, the rear arms connect to the chassis at two points eliminating the need for two (RZR) or three (X3) radius rods. Other than the belt, radius rods are the weakest links on those two cars. One wrong move and they bend, sometimes causing the trailing arm to bend and even the shock. Trailing arms provide a smoother suspension action than Yamaha’s trailing A-arm. The trailing arms protect the outer CV boot and are also reversible, so one part number will work on both sides of the car.

    3. The Cage/ Chassis: Although the stock cage is bolted on and may not be legal to race with, it has a center intrusion bar standard as well as rear cross bracing. From early drawings of the frame, it appears to have bolt on subframes at both ends meaning if you bend a suspension mounting point on the frame it can be replaced. Steering will also remain very responsive and light like the old Wildcats. The steering rack will remain forward of the front spindles eliminating feedback. The RZR, YXZ and X3, have the steering rack behind the spindles. If you look close at some of the top RZR race builds, you can that the steering rack has been relocated.

    4. Engine and Alternator: The 998cc engine will be made by Yamaha which we have already seen loads of power produced out of the YXZ including a top speed of 95 MPH on our test track. Robby Gordon says in the CVT configuration, the car is capable of over 80MPH. Arctic Cat claims the external alternator puts out 65 Amps which is more than enough to power all of your accessories. Yamaha sells this same upgrade for the YXZ. Unfortunately, the belt is not protected from water.

    5. Cargo: The cargo space will have four high walls and fit up to a 33” tire. You will able to store twice as much gear as you can in a Yamaha or on the X3. It also looks like Arctic Cat moved the fuel tank from this area to under the passenger seat. They also moved the radiator from behind the seats up to the front for easy access and better flow.

    6. Price: Since the base model will not come with a turbo and does put out 130 horsepower, the price shouldn’t be much over $20,000 and will attract people considering a turbo. In fact Arctic Cat is lowering prices across their OHV line up. However, on the flip side of that, the turbo charged, 77-inch wide, Robby Gordon Speed Cat77 race version is rumored to cost upwards of $100,000. Yes, that is an insane number that we can’t wrap our head around just yet.

My Sport has factory full doors. My seat belt buckle seemed to be the same as what my Rhino had.
