Thread: Sway bars

    Sway bars

Anyone see a problem with unbolting the sway bars for riding a lot of off camber trails? Idon't ride much flat areas.

My wolvy is tippy enough with the bar attached, I can't imagine without it. Should be ok for low speed riding.

I had mine off for over a year. Really frees up the suspension but does make it very tipsy in high speed turns. Then I rolled it and hooked it back up.

I need a left front flare, isn't that the one you damaged also?

I think I'll try it with them disconnected for a little while. I don't see taking a 4 seater on any high speed turns. I think disconnected will help a little bit on the trails to maybe keep the tires in contact with the dirt.

Yes it is. You can buy single flares.

I think it interesting that Yamaha added rear wheel spacers and removed sway bar on Rhinos reportedly due to legal reaction to rollovers. Don't know if it was slow or high speed rollovers? But if Yamaha took them off then why not try it on slow trails? I took my Rhino bar off and it handled better on the trails. But it was sketchy on higher speed road turns lol.

I didn't have one on my rhino ; but , I had 525lb springs on the rear , so there was little to no sway . In an off camber situation , with them off / unhooked it will really let the body roll .

My Rhino didn't have them either. My Wildcat and Ranger both had rear only. The X4 has both front and rear.

you gotta remember the rhino bs lawsuits, Yamaha paid a lot of money to close those out. they are still very cautious with their sxs line. the X4 is made for a family or four friends to do recreational activities. Yamaha gave it more power to haul and pull, but added a lot of features to control speed and make it stable.
