Tips on resurfacing sheave faces?
I take it this is not ideal? lol looks sketchy AF

Looking around the WWW not seeing much specific... are tools ok ie sander, right angle grinder? I was thinking a right angle die grinder with a roloc scothbrite pad or bristle disc. Both can be had in varying abrasiveness. Any tips greatly appreciated.

Personally I like to block sand, it helps take out the little valleys and allows belt to have a consistent surface on which to ride. Don't know what that grit it was but if too coarse you may be at risk of removing too much material and then you shorten life of sheave or any other face your doing. basically looking to break the glaze of the face and prep it for a new belt to seat.

Ok lol thanks. Is there a prefferred direction to sand? Ive seen do circular pattern and Ive seen to only go in straight line from center to outer edge.

If you spin it, it is self obvious how you have to sand it, but in and out can work ok. BTW just wanted to add that the 'block' should not be a foam sanding pad that is popular for paint/drywall work, but the sand paper wrapped around a hard rubber pad (like auto body uses) or a piece of wood (personally prefer a piece of plywood or fir type wood that is not super hard wood). If just knocking the glaze off, then the orbital pattern works well.
