CVT/Engine Noise

Hi everyone. I would like to introduce myself as a new member and I am new to the Yamaha product. That being said I have been reading numerous posts to try and educate myself better about the Yamaha CVT system. I have 100kms/10hrs of recommended break-in time. I have noticed that the Viking makes a Piston slap/knock noise when accelerating in gear under light load and light throttle position.(5-15%). After the clutch is fully engaged/rpm increases, the noise goes away. This condition is acting like "piston slap". Also when the Viking is cold the noise is more noticeable and when it is fully warm the noise is there just not as loud. First question I have is this normal for the CVT system, or do I need to take it back to dealer to look further? Second question is what procuct do you recommend, and will the modification help with the noise I'm hearing?

I would like to effectively change the lower and higher ratio and would like to hear suggestions. I used the Viking for hunting/trail riding. I currently run 26 inch Mud Lites and will be swapping for 27's come hunting season. I do haul the occasional moose and am looking for a balance of gearing and keeping the bike quiet when rolling.

Welcome to the forum...The Yamaha motors do make a lot of noise when they're new It Will quiet down some after the break in. As far as the clutching goes we have always had the best clutching available for the Viking let me know what size tires you're going to run and I can set you up with the right weights and spring you need
