    Quick Horsepower

Think i gained 20hp changing the air filter lol Guess i need to keep a better eye on that area. 2 dead mice and all in the bottom of the box. Gonna rig up a small wire mesh cover for the intake under the hood to try and keep those bastards out Click image for larger version.

LOL!!! I had 8 dead mice in the intake tract of my Viking VI over the course of the winter. I had to remove all of the intake tubing to clean all of them out. Once out, I used 1/4" hardware cloth (available at most hardware stores, get stainless if possible), and cut it to size and pressed it into the opening above the battery. Took a little work to get it right, but it has hung tough since.

On the air filter, I would look into getting the UNI (got mine off Amazon for ~$35). Make sure that you oil it real good, and install it without any gaps (kind of hard to do with the 2 piece design). For the cage area, I would either put 2 additional screws in on each end, or rivet it to try to hold it better. Seems that Yamaha engineering cut some corners on this piece.
