I'm between full uhmw skids or Weller flash and hmf exhaust for my next mod. Leaning towards skids as I already out run the two RZRs, Honda, ,and Ranger on the trails but thought I'd get you all's opinion. My undercarriage is looking a little rough.

you've made the decision already from logic, if your getting a lot of damage on the bottom get the skids. no point in adding mods that will allow you to go even faster possibly causing more damage

You're right. Skids and rock sliders are ordered.

Full UHMW skids are some of the best parts I put on my Rhino. They also help it "float" better in the muck and snow when it is deep.
Thanks, I went with Factory UTV brand.

For what it is worth: UHMW ( Ultra High Molecular Weight polyethylene ) is indeed the best of all materials for a skid plate.
Unbreakable, reasonably stiff and tougher than nails.
It can get scuffed up a bit being dragged across a rock or whatever.
For my curiosity, how thick is the plate material ?
The only potential problem that I can see, is an edge that is hanging out and un-backed up,
catching on a rock, etc.
It will likely survive but perhaps get bent a bit out of shape. If that concerns you,
you could try to bend up the edge a bit if it is hanging out in the breeze.
Elsewise it might be bent down and act as a snagging edge upon the next rock down the trail.
A bit of concentrated heat and a little persuasion will change the shape a bit.
But do try to hold it in the bent position long enough until it reaches room temperature
and then it will hold its shape just fine.
All plastics do take a set after cooling back down to room temperature.
It may creep back to its original shape over a long time,
but eventually it will be where you want it.

3/8 they have 1/2 as well. I like the pictures of it on their website. I'm not sure when they will be here but surely by the end of the week. I've used my heat gun several times to mend and weld plastics. I like the full metal skids but the metal doesn't always pop back out after it gets a dent. Plus I think adding 3/8 UHMW to the metal underneath should make a pretty bullet proof under body. I would have went 1/2 if we didn't already have full skids from the factory.

Hmmm, here is a thought that I just now pondered across.
The sticks are white or some other color due to an additive in the resin that makes up the stick.
Glass fiber is naturally "clear". Epoxy or Polyimide resin is also naturally "clear".
So, leave out the coloring dye and we have a semi-transparent fiberglass rod.
Perhaps that semi-transparent greenish tint that you often see in a fishing rod would be the normal for fiberglass rod ?
Probably not perfect with respect to light loss, but with a light focusing on the bottom of the stick,
I dare say that it will light up the stick nicely.
Now, to find a source to "fabricate" our own sticks !!!
Some long hours surfing the net is in order, eh ?
