To condense this discussion, the issue is the wet clutches, no matter where they might be.

The base oil has nothing to do with the slippery clutch thing, it is all in the additives, whatever they may be.

Testing and discussion on this has been going on practically forever, so just look for it.

Just as an aside thi also affects all of the wet clutch motorcycles, etc.

Just about the only thing that does not have an oil bathed clutch is a snowmobile (or lawnmower)
that uses a pulley to tighten its grip on the belt, and off she goes,
Here, be prepared to experience burnt rubber smell and smoke.
Also, the Vee belts do break and leave you stranded,
hopefully just in your back yard, eh ?

Ok changed my oil...I found that after I added the 2.5 the manual suggested that I still had to add another 1.25 qts( making it a total of 3.75 qts) to show full on the oil ressy dipstick as the manual suggested....has anyone else experienced adding this much?

Nearest dealer to me is about 45min. If the local guy didnt go out of business I'd get it there. I'll defer to my local online Amazon retailer for the Yamalube (which I will keep in to the end of the warranty) when I'm due. Had it since March, 48mi so far.....i need to get out and ride....
