— October 4th – 6th event

Yamaha is in the fun business. Not only does Yamaha sell some of the best sport and utility UTVs in the industry, it sponsors top racers and offers adventure rental services all over the county to make sure people know how much fun it is to drive a Yamaha YXZ1000 or Wolverine.
Last fall Yamaha did something unique by putting on an event open only to owners of YXZ1000Rs and Wolverines at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. The event was more than a driving experience. The weekend was filled with camping, games, prizes and a country concert by Josh Gracin.

For the challenge part of the weekend, Yamaha owners tackled a 14-mile tight-woods course that included a hill-climb, descent and log obstacle at the bottom of a creek bed. There were mud holes, tire obstacles, culverts and much more.
The object was to use Yamaha’s new Adventure Pro GPS system to find the obstacles and complete a variety of challenges, many of them in front of spectators.

“Our inaugural XTR Challenge was a great success, as Yamaha enthusiasts from all over joined us to put both themselves and their SxS vehicles to the test in some pretty extreme off-road conditions,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha’s motorsports group marketing manager. “Wolverine and YXZ owners alike proved themselves to be as proven off-road as their machines, with many battling through adverse conditions to finish the course—and they did so with smiles on their faces. All involved are already looking forward to next year, and Yamaha would like to thank MX Sports and Loretta Lynn’s Ranch for playing a vital role in ensuring the success of our first-ever Yamaha Extreme Terrain Challenge.”
Plans for next year’s Extreme Terrain (or XTR) Challenge are already in the works, with dates set for Oct 4th-6th. All participants at the inaugural XTR Challenge are guaranteed a spot in this year’s event should they choose to return for another chance to tackle the demanding course.
