    Viking VI Carrier Bearing

Wondering what the symptoms of a bad carrier bearing is on the Viking (specifically Viking VI)? I have heard a lot of guys complaining about going through the bearings and I have a noise on mine.

The noise that I have sounds almost like the parking brake pads rattling around a little. It is more noticeable when just starting to take off and coasting a little bit.

So other than tearing it all apart to inspect it (looks like the center floors, seats, and airbox all have to come out), and the bearing/seal assembly doesn't look like it is cheap enough to just do.

Hoping that I can get a better idea if this is something that I should get to or if it is normal or can wait.

    Thanks.

When a carrier bearing gets loose it will sloop around when you decelerate like when coasting. You may be able to delay the inevitable if you 'clock the bearing' 90 degrees, but not for very long. When it gets bad, it will start slapping around pretty badly all the time.
